I was having coffee with a new client the other day when she told me to sit down and browse through this new design book she got (Windsor Smith's Homefront). I emerged myself into the book while enjoying the amazing latte she made me and forgot where I was for a second. I think this is what design books can do to you. Sometimes they're calming for me as I dream about these magnificent spaces and sometimes I get anxious because my creative mind starts racing with all these ideas I can use. But they are so useful for so many reasons. There are the high end celebrity style books where a side table I fall in love with costs $9,738 to the design book for families with children, which is more our speed these days!
There is a plethora of design inspiration out there between Pinterest, Houzz, blogs and magazines that you can easily get overwhelmed. So I wanted to share with you some of my favorite design books that I use for inspiration and also as styling in homes. Books can be expensive which is why they are such great gifts to give. Plus I like the thought that I'm still contributing to the non-digital world or that maybe I'm just a hoarder of design books and magazines.
Below is a list of the top 12 books that I have been turning to for inspiration. They range from high end luxury style to flea market finds. If you don't have any of these I highly recommend getting them.
Have a favorite design book? Let me know because I'm always on the hunt for something new.
