Favorites from the Oscars

The Oscar red carpets are an event I look forward to every year and unfortunately missed them this year and found myself actually watching the entire Oscar Awards just to see what everyone was wearing, which sort of looked like a prom   Anyone else notice the prom-ish dresses this year?  I also realized I need to up my movie game. Is it sad that the only thing I recognized was the minions and Star Wars?

Without a doubt my favorite of the night was Margot Robbie. Obsessed with this dress!! Her hair could have been brushed more.

Some runner ups

Saorise Ronan's dress is stunning. Probably my second favorite look of the night.  The color, cut and accessories were spot on. She wore it well. Keeping the accessories and hair simple. While I'm on this color loving kick, Rachel McAdams was stunning in this bombshell look.  I loved this as well although it's hard to not have wrinkles and that always ruins the look for me. Her assistant should have followed her with a steamer.

Love love love the back of this dress and her hair may be my favorite. Olivia Wilde looks gorgeous but she's always a natural beauty. This may not have been a favorite of others but I really liked it. It may have maybe been better crossed in the front or maybe she should have just walked backwards all night and removed the choker.

When I first saw this dress I loved the simplicity and color of it. Olivia Munn can wear anything and look good. Did you see her amazing bracelet too? Although her cheeks were a little to matchy matchy with her dress.

Olivia Munn just shared her push up cleavage secret with the world but clearly Lady Gaga didn't get the memo. If she would have I would have loved this even more. But she had a kick ass performance so that made up for it.

I think Jennifer Garner looked gorgeous (take that Ben)! I think she nailed the whole look and was one of my favorites of the night.

One word....PRETTY! How awesome would this be as a wedding dress?!

Charlize Theron is so beautiful in this red number

They rocked it last year as a couple and again this year. I am in love with her dress detail and his jacket and shoes.

Best Hair

Naomi Watts brought the glitz and wins best hair for me

The most dapper of the night, Jacob Tremblay (gets his cuteness from his good looking parents, obviously). His reaction to the Star Wars Stars hitting the stage was so adorable.

The worst of the night

Heidi can pull off anything but really Heidi? This was just bad. Looks like her kids wrapped her up in tulle.

I adore Tina Fey but this just felt so bridesmaid dress to me. The color is pretty on her but I just wasn't a fan.

and the infamous flower, no further comments

MIRRROR OPTIONS FOR BATHROOM VANITIES

Rectangular Mirrors

1) This industrial looking mirror from Shades of Light has a great little shelf attached to the bottom. This would look great on exposed brick. Great price too!

2) A beaded frame mirror is a classic look for a bathroom and would look great with white and marble.

3) This gold pivot mirror from Pottery Barn would look so great in a black and white bathroom.

Fun Mirrors

1) I love the shape and inlay on this mirror from West Elm. Would look great on a wall with color or in a kids bathroom.

2) I've always loved this mirror!  It's a statement piece that would look great in a half bath on bold wallpaper.

3) Lapis blue and black combination in this fun mirror would look great in a neutral bath, keeping this the statement piece and pairing with black bathroom fixtures.

Silhouette Mirrors:

1) This is currently my favorite style mirror. Paired with a gray weathered wood, these would make the perfect vanity mirror.

2) The Grace Metal Mirror is so fun for a little girls bathroom with chrome sconces and fixtures. .

3) The warm walnut wood tones of this silhouette mirror would be great paired with a navy vanity and marble top.

Round Mirrors:

1) Round mirrors are always a good option. I love the leather detail on this hanging CB2 option

2) This color blue is just stunning and the detail on this velvet mirror is pretty great too. I could see this paired with one of RH's metal vanity's in a teens bathroom.

3) Serena & Lily is a favorite of mine so of course I love this bamboo mirror in white. A great fit for a coastal home. They're also having a great sale right now $50 off every $200 you spend!

NOT YOUR TRADITIONAL BATHROOM MIRROR

We use it everyday, so why not make it fun! The bathroom mirror is the jewelry for the space. It's a necessity that doesn't have to be boring. I love vintage mirrors, fun shapes and pops of color in the bathroom. It's the one room I like to go bold. Maybe because it's the smallest room? Whatever it is, I usually get a little gutsy with color choices. Although these are all very neutral, they still are the center of attention in these spaces.

I've always loved the idea of mirrors hanging in front of windows. Maybe because the natural light that you will get when looking into the mirror. Perfect for putting make up on.

FRIDAY FINDS FAVORITE INSTAGRAMMER

Ever find yourself lost on Instagram browsing one gorgeous home after another? Well, that was me when I discovered Laura Burleson Interiors. Adding her to my list of design crushes. This is definitely a great Friday Find I recommend checking out, I promise you'll fall in love! Her spaces are AHHHH-MAZING! Just when I think I have a favorite, I click on another one and like that space even more. Here are some of her projects and I wish I could copy and paste that office right into my own home. (Currently trying to come up with a new office design) Enjoy this home eye candy and hope everyone has a great weekend! Yay for Friday!

I would die to have one of the boys rooms look like this. I love everything in this space but the alcove with the elephant....LOVE!

Hello Mudroom! That wood on the back of the cubbies, color combo and lucite hooks are just plain awesome and I like the grates on the cabinet insets too.

This color is gorgeous on these walls and how cute is that dalmatian print?

These are my favorite colors and I have wanted to use this Schumacher wallpaper somewhere in my house. Never thought of the basement but it may get added to my basement wish list. I love the painted door too.

I love the use of the wallpaper as a backdrop here. Although with the amount of coats that we have you'd never see that beautiful wallpaper.

and I saved the best for last. Just absolutely STUNNING!

My Favorite Beauty Products Right Now

I don't consider myself a beauty expert but I am a beauty product junkie. I've tried LOTS of products and have narrowed it down to some favorite go to's that I thought I'd share with you.

To give you a little overview of my skin: I have fair skin with blue undertones, light eyes and thin see thru skin on my eyelids which results in purple veiny eyelids and under eye circles. Not pretty! So if you have the opposite coloring, my opinions on these products may not apply to you. But if you're still curious, read on because I do have a great mascara recommendation!

Finding a good concealer is always a challenge for me. One of my BF's and I have been on a concealer mission and we've found a couple favorites. We've found a good drugstore and high end one we both love.  It's a splurge but we hear it lasts forever and we think it's worth it. I suggest finding it in store and having your color matched before buying. The Laura Mercier is thick and some say it's too cakey or dry for them but this has worked well for my dark circles and I haven't had problems with it being dry. Click on pictures to shop.

Mascara is an every day staple over here. I never leave the house without it, even if it's the only make up I wear that day. I've recently discovered this Too Faced one and its a new favorite. It's the only one I use. It sort of lives up to it's name too.

Beautycounters eye liner is my current go to. I've tried many other drugstore brands and they all end up below my eyes at the end of the day. This one stays put and has no bad ingredients in it. It also has a little blender tip on the other end for smoky eyes. Comes in 4 colors too.

Eyeshadow palettes are my favorite because you get multiple options in one place. Only negative is when you run out of your everyday go to. My favorites are the Smashbox palettes and trios. Their colors are well pigmented and last all day and the brush that comes with this palette is the perfect eyeshadow brush.

Blush- colors vary for each person and I change mine throughout the seasons depending on my tan. My go to is Nars orgasm because it has a shimmer to it that reflects light and gives you a little glow. I may or may not have bought this Physicians Formula blush because of the cute little design and ended up liking it a lot. It's made with argan oil which is known as liquid gold. I always think of it as a bonus if my makeup is helping my skin too!

Foundation - I have had a favorite foundation that I've used for a couple years now. Every time I try something new I always go back to it. Now I don't even mess with it. Make Up For ever foundation is hands down the best in my opinion. It stays on all day, gives a full coverage without the heavy feel and never feels oily. I've found a good drugstore brand that I like as well.

I like a bronzer without shimmer that I can also use as a contour powder as well. This Beautycounter one works perfect for both and lasts forever.

Lipstick- I'm not much of a lipstick person. I prefer lipgloss or Sugars lip balm. Do I wish I could pull off a red Scarlett Johanson lipstick? Sure, but I just feel funny so I never do it. Instead I opt for the neutral shades. Beautycounters lipsticks have been my go to because they don't bleed and are safe to use. Clearly I haven't fully cleaned up my makeup but something that I put on multiple times a day on my lips I'd rather use the safe stuff.

Finish it off with Make Up For Ever setting spray and you won't need to touch up all day! Seriously the best!!

If you're out shopping and try one of these out let me know if you love it as much as I do. I always love hearing everyone's favorite beauty products.
