Holiday Fashion
With holiday party's in full swing I always find myself struggling with having appropriate attire for the season. I plan our holiday outfit and then forget about the other festive parties, cookie swaps, casual outdoor holiday events or whatever else is going on. So I put together a couple looks I'll be sharing this weekend that can be mixed and matched for other events.

#Nsale Round up of my favorite items
I posted a sneak peek of some of my favorite items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which happens to be one of the best sales of the year. For those with a Nordstrom card you are able to shop the preview sale which ends on the 16th and opens to those who don't have a Nordstrom card. The sale ends Aug 3rd and prices go to their full price. I'm sure that fall/winter clothing is the last thing on your mind but now is a great time to stock up on shoes (especially if you have a bunch of little ones to buy for), outerwear for the family and the brands that never go on sale (North Face, Tory Burch, Nike, Under Armour, etc). I've rounded up my favorites from each category. What are some of your favorites from the sale this year?

Friday Finds Preview of Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
How is it that the Anniversary Sale is already here? I always think of back to school shopping since I get the kids their shoes but it seems to have popped up so early this year. Maybe it's because I'm in denial of colder weather just months away. But then again we have Fall clothes shopping to look forward to and Fall clothing is my favorite!
Stay tuned for a full blog post for what my favorite items are for the sale this year on Monday. For now my Friday Finds are showing a couple of my picks from the Preview Sale. If you own a Nordstrom's Card you can start shopping now! Yay!

Get your pool bag ready for summer!
This hot weather sort of crept up faster then I expected. I'm still waiting for another snow storm or something crazy but I'm sure that's not going to happen (except in Maine) I just think I have PTSD from this winter. We've been swimming a couple times and I was reminded that I need to get my bags in order. A couple of years ago I created a system for myself that has worked well. Are you always forgetting something like sunscreen or a swim diaper and you get to the pool realizing that your toddler is already in the baby pool and you just pray their diaper won't swell big enough that everyone else will notice. Or if you don't have kids do you forget the book or magazine you wanted to read and then you're bored because all you have to do is sit there and relax? (I miss those days)
My mission this weekend is to get our bags set up for the summer and I'm going to share with you some of my tricks that I found that work for us and make our life somewhat organized.
I have multiple bags so I can afford to dedicate one to the pool, beach and gym.
After I have each bag designated I think about what I need for each of them. I used to keep bathing suits in the kids rooms and then I realized it's easier to wash them and place one for each of them in the bag so if they put them on beforehand or at the pool I just grab from the bag. I also put the wet towels in the wash immediately and as soon as their dry fold them and place them back into our pool or beach bags. I have a hook in our mudroom for each bag. That way if Dad or someone else is taking the kids to the pool they can just grab the bag and go.
Pool bag:
The pool we go to has a towel service which is honestly life changing. But until that pool opens were toting our own towels to other pools.
-tote bag (when we're not carrying towels) and it's 50% off this month
-ziploc bags or one of these cute wet bags for wet bathing suits Navy Rugby Stripe Wet/Dry Bag | Pottery Barn Kids
-towels
-bathing suits
-mini water bottles and small snacks (because no one eats the $50 worth of food bought at the snack stand but they're ravenous when they get in the car)
-change of clothes
Beach bag:
We go to a drive on beach which is also life changing. The thought of lugging everything to the beach just makes me tired thinking of it. So I usually have my car prepped all summer.
-beach bag (this can be made larger so it holds A LOT) durable and has a great outside pocket for keys
-Small cosmetic Bag filled with sunscreen, spf chapstick care, bandaids, hair ties, bug spray (perfect size and it's organic)
-ziploc bags or one of these cute wet bags for wet bathing suits Navy Rugby Stripe Wet/Dry Bag | Pottery Barn Kids
-our portable travel shower
-beach blanket towel
-change of clothes
-sweatshirts because it gets cool at night
-magazines
-sunglasses
-hats
-wet hair brush
Gym bag:
When you only have 3 hours all day to yourself I try to maximize my time so if I'm going to the gym I shower there before pick up so I keep a gym bag packed at all times. Because if you have to pack your gym bag to shower the chances of you working out go down significantly.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas
Mother's Day is soon approaching and to be honest I think it's a total joke moms get one day. So make it a good one! Relax, spend the day alone, do what YOU want to do because you only get one day!
If you haven't yet thought of a fabulous gift you deserve for being a mom (besides the best gift ever, our kids) here are a couple ideas
1. Diptyque candles smell so good and they make the cutest make up brush jars when you're done with it. Mom would totally love these!!
2. I love the bamboo handles on this bag as well as the personalization. Great summer bag and personalized gifts are one of my favorites to give
3. Splurge-worthy sunglasses. I use to destroy sunglasses but as the salesperson at Nordstrom once told me. "If you buy nice ones you will keep them nice".....he was right.
4. La Mer lotion perfect for the summer sun and probably something mom wouldn't splurge on herself
5. These Gray Malin prints are my new favorite. I just stare at them and relax a little bit.
6. Blue is the hot color this summer, might as well update the watch to blue too
7. I just got this magic miracle face mask from my friends over at Carefree Organics and love it. It's in a powder form and you create a clay mask with it. It's like playing in the mud but for spa purposes of course
8. Create a memorable engraved charm necklace for mom with the kids initials or important dates from Stella & Dot
9. Guess I'm loving sunglasses right now. These are a great color and shape.
10. Loving this tunic from J. Crew
11. Pamper mom with a spa gift set and give her the afternoon off to enjoy it!
12. Who doesn't love flowers? Skip the roses (unless that's her fav flower) A big bouquet of peonies or tulips will brighten her day!
13. I'm loving these navy Birkenstocks. Waterproof and they come in different colors. Great switch up from the regular flip flops.
14. As I was looking for something for a client I came upon this great clutch from Jonathan Adler. I'd love to get this as a gift for Mother's Day!
15. Pink lips are all the rage right now. This is a fun toned down pink for a more neutral summer pink.

Sad to say goodbye to Piperlime
I'm still in denial that Piperlime is going out of business. This was my go to for dresses, jeans and shoes. I loved seeing Olivia Palermo's picks because she has such great style. How can it be that it's not going to be around anymore? I feel like I'm losing a best friend. Ok, it's just an online store, I will eventually get over it until I need a dress and won't be able to shop here anymore. Waaaahhhhh!!! Still holding out hope that it's just a revamp and that they're going to come back even better. Wishful thinking.
In the meantime here's my favorite picks of what is left. You can score some amazing deals on great items. Stuff is going quickly so grab them now!! Rumor has it that they'll be done for good April 29th but I don't know how true that is. The inventory seems to be getting low so maybe it's somewhat true.

Spring Outerwear Styles

It's hard to think warmer weather is on the way with a good amount of snow still on the ground here in Boston. But it will arrive and it always seems to arrive quickly. And then everyone panics that they need to shed their down coats and go buy a lighter weight coat and everything will be sold out because duh, why wouldn't you have thought to buy a spring coat when it was snowing outside. But leave it to my shopping partner in crime to be on top of it and remind me that I better start looking now. She asked if I had seen any cute coats out lately. Give me a mission gf and I shall find you some.
I love a good jean jacket. It's a classic that can be worn with practically anything. Invest in a good one because it will become a staple in your closet. I also love this chambray version of an anorak style jacket as well. Looks lightweight and comfy!
Anyone else obsessed with anorak style jackets as much as me? I purchased one at F21 a couple of years ago and get compliments every time I wear it. The army green color goes with everything but my only complaint is it isn't waterproof. I spotted this waterproof one in Lululemon the other week and love the zipper in the back. Love the white too!
I have a bit of a blazer problem. I love them and they're my go to in the spring. They make great spring jackets. I spotted this striped one at target about a month back when I wasn't even thinking about spring. This would be cute over a white eyelet dress as well. A white collarless one is great for a night out when you don't need a full on coat and love the simplicity of it.
Spring brings out all the pastels and bright colors. I adore a classic yellow coat for spring but I'm also loving this light aqua one and blue one as well. Something a little different then your average navy and olive green.
Having a good trench coat in your closet is a must! Dressed up for holidays or worn with your favorite pair of jeans and ballet flats they are always a classic. I'm loving the look of the darker one.
These 3 coats I would wear ALL THE TIME! The color goes with everything. I like that the middle one is quilted for the days when it's still cooler and you can't beat the price on the 3rd one at Old Navy right now.
If I could splurge I would totally go for this Barbour jacket because I know I'd live in it. They have similar ones at a fraction of the cost at J.Crew and Target had them last year so maybe they will come back again.
