TAKE YOUR WRAPPING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

I'm sure you're all in a wrapping frenzy right now with Christmas only a couple days away. Seriously how did this happen? I always get a little depressed right before knowing it will be over so soon. So I try to savor my favorite things to do during the holidays and one of those things is wrapping gifts. Every year I choose a different theme based on what catches my eye in the store. This year I scored some awesome black, white and gold ribbon and gift tags at Homegoods (which is awesome for gift wrapping supplies) and went from there. I've also been obsessed with plaid this holiday season and while grabbing something for a client spotted this awesome plaid ribbon to add a little festive color to my gifts. I have a feeling Santa had the same ideas this year but we won't get to see those until after he comes of course.

Here are a couple of my tips to take your packages to the next level:
-great wrapping that doesn't necessarily have a Christmas theme written all over it. I like to buy paper I can use all year round (stripes, polka dots, ikat)
-fabric ribbon (with or without wiring) satin, plaid and extra wide work great. Wire ribbon makes for easier now making.
-cute gift tags that coordinate with your gift wrap
-fresh greens, ornaments, feathers to finish off the look (I like to include initial ornaments to make it more personal)

Target $1 section has great gift tags. These metal ones adorned the gifts where I used labels instead of gift tags. The gift labels are from Homegoods as well as the hanging labels. These cute chalkboard labels are another option for gift tags.

Target launched sugar paper this year and their gift wrap was Santa's go to. How cute are these little ornament gift toppers

Can you believe this Kate Spade wrapping paper was at Homegoods? I love it with the plaid ribbon. The hostess gift inside was just as cute. I visited Trellis Home nearby and if you're local stop in, they have some amazing stuff.

I'm obsessed with the animal print paper which looks great paired with a coordinating herringbone gold & black ribbon

Making bows can be a little more difficult with satin ribbon so opt for a wired ribbon if bow making is not your thing because you can mess with them to make them look like it is your thing

Holiday Fashion

With holiday party's in full swing I always find myself struggling with having appropriate attire for the season. I plan our holiday outfit and then forget about the other festive parties, cookie swaps, casual outdoor holiday events or whatever else is going on. So I put together a couple looks I'll be sharing this weekend that can be mixed and matched for other events.

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE FOR PETS

We have a furry family member who is celebrating their first Christmas so I couldn't forget about the pets! Ours is apparently the new favorite child. My husband is a little upset she doesn't have her own monogrammed pottery barn stocking and she has the cats hand me down 😿

HOLIDAY PLANTERS

Creating a simple outdoor planter for the holiday can be simple and fun making your front porch just as festive as inside. From year to year I tend to change what I do from wreaths on all the windows to a statement front door wreath. I loved my wreath and planters last year so I decided to do a similar design this year but I switched up my ribbon. After finding this Burberry inspired ribbon at a local flower warehouse I knew I wanted it for my door.

Starting with my planters I'm going to share how simple it is to create these.  I've always wanted the tall black square planters but I always wait too long and have a hard time finding them. So believe it or not these are actually black plastic trashcans purchased at Home Depot.  I weight them down with a couple bricks.

Supplies used:
-tall planters
-mixed greens (boxwood/magnolia leaves/pine)
-faux 12" wreaths
-tall birch branches
-gold balls/ornaments of your choice

It's been nice out so I was able to create these on my porch. It's best if you don't have to walk far with them.

Once you weight down your planters of using lightweight ones like I did place your faux wreaths around the top of the container. This creates a base for the greens to sit.

Start with your first layer of greens. I use my fuller greens and pine first. Then continue layering your greens (boxwood/magnolia leaves) sticking in above your first layer until they're nice and full.

Place the tall birch branches in the middle. You can readjust these after you place all your greens.

Rearrange the birch branches and add pine cones/ornaments(plastic) and gold balls to fill them in. These are the items I used but they would be pretty with red berry branches as well.

Step back and enjoy!

TAKE YOUR HOME FROM WHITE TO HOLIDAY BRIGHT

I was so honored when Chairish asked me to share my ideas on how to take a room from everyday chic into holiday glam for the holidays.  Chairish is an online marketplace for vintage furniture where design lovers can buy and sell. Offering a variety of unique one of a kind pieces for your home.

I knew right away that my design inspiration was going to be this mid century faux fur accent chair because I have been in love with these since I first laid eyes on them. They're a glam statement piece for sure.  I've been obsessed with plaids and hunter green this holiday season so I wanted to incorporate them into my glam holiday room. They're so festive and bright!

1. I love using fresh magnolia leaves for the holidays and this wreath would be perfect around the faux taxidermy above the fireplace mantle.

2. These brass lanterns from Crate & Barrel would be perfect flanking a fireplace.

3. I use fresh greens I find in my backyard to fill in my mantle and tables.

4. Fun gift wrap which I always love to coordinate with my holiday decor. (20% off with code FALALA)

5. Faux taxidermy deer head placed above the fireplace mantle with a wreath around it's neck. If you don't have a fireplace this would also be great for above a bar cart. This one is from Z Gallerie but I've seen a lot at Homegoods as well.

6. Cozy throw blankets are a must have in this household and I love this black and white buffalo checked one.

7. This chair from Chairish is to die for! A mid century modern faux fur with black and gold legs. You can't get any cozier glam then this!

8. Luxe satin ribbon for all your gifting needs. This green color is gorgeous!

9. I love these festive Serena & Lily stockings with the pom poms. Even more colors available online!

10. Mad for Plaid this season and these throw pillows from Williams and Sonoma Home give the space just the right amount of festive-ness. (20% off with code GIFT)

11. Another print I'm currently obsessed with right now and I love mixing textures with patterns.

12. One of my designer crushes Studio McGee just released these new pillows and this charcoal gray buffalo check would be a great addition to the above 2 and could be used throughout the year.

13. An easy way to make a space more festive is to add fresh red flowers. I love red tulips for this time of the year!

14. This green velvet mid century sofa is seriously amazing!

15. Wooden bowls filled with pinecones or ornaments look great placed on coffee tables on top of a stack of coffee table books. I especially like this raw edge one from Target

16. Sugar Paper came out with the cutest line for Target this holiday season and these ornaments are actually gift toppers but they would also be great in the wooden bowl or attach one to a stocking with a ribbon.

17. How cute is this little vintage heart bowl from Chairish. Filled it with rocher chocolates (although they wouldn't make it a day around here)

18. The perfect new friend to add to your coffee table. Tie a little black and white ribbon around his neck to dress him up for the holidays.

19. These nautical striped benches from Chairish just popped up and I think I need them. Pair 2 of these with an ivory faux fur throw to glam it up next to the fireplace for extra seating for the holidays.

20. A great way to change up a room is to layer rugs. This turkish rug has fabulous reds, black and golds to pull together the space.

I had so much fun designing this chic to glam holiday space! If you haven't heard of Chairish be sure to check them out for great finds! Get $20 to Shop here

Thanksgiving Recap

Yeah, yeah I know. Everyone's posting their gorgeous Christmas decor and I still have pumpkins on my porch, the table still has the Thanksgiving centerpieces on it and my living room has had my Christmas containers piled high for the past week with a half decorated tree thanks to this sickness that is just lingering for the past 2 weeks. The throbbing in my head has finally subsided a little so that I can look at a screen and get some work done and share a little recap of my Thanksgiving table which I know I promised to show you last week.

Because I procrastinated I scored these cute black and white checkered placemats in the Target dollar section that I made into a runner. I added 3 wooden boxes filled with sugar pumpkins, cabbages from my planters outside, fresh flowers and fruit which we were able to enjoy later. I love creating things that can be reused or have multiple purposes.

I was excited to use my Nate Berkus snail place card holders for the first time!

The kids even got their own little thanksgiving table with their fancy plastic stemware they picked out at the grocery store. My husband outdid himself with his deep fried turkey this year (15th year and no fires)! I hope you're Thanksgivings were as enjoyable as ours was. I honestly wish there was an extra month in between November and December. I love this time of year and want to savor it but it's flying by! How is it December already?
