OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING WITH ALL MODERN

Patio season is upon us and I don't know about you but it's my favorite time to host impromptu get togethers, summer BBQ's, pizza parties with friends and spend all the time we can outside. The backyard is an extension of your home and a change of scenery can make things feel special.  When entertaining outdoors, I like to make it just as great as if we were entertaining inside. With the help of Allmodern, I've put together everything you need to entertain outdoors. Beautiful melamine dinnerware that is lightweight and shatter resistant.  Serving pieces for all those charcuterie boards and all the beautiful glassware for those never ending summer cocktails.

Allmodern makes it easy to shop online and what I love the most is that everything arrives so quickly. If you're local to the Boston area you can now shop their FIRST retail store in person at The Market. They make it easy to stop in and grab all the entertaining needs in person. I had the opportunity to see the store in person and connect with new and old friends and it was such a great experience. The store is incredible beautiful and they make your shopping experience simple!

These melamine plates and serving ware caught my eye immediately because they look like real pottery but they're shatter resistant.  Great for entertaining outdoors! The large serving bowl is great for salads, watermelon slices, bags of chips or s'mores ingredients. It comes in 2 color options and additional serving pieces to coordinate. The neutral hues can coordinate with all your outdoor table setting ideas. I paired it with these stone salad servers and coordinating flatware settings in matte gold. I'm all for fun themed paper goods but there's something about real linens that take the outdoor entertaining to another level. I added these beautiful linen napkins that come in a variety of colors.I selected the cream color.

To add a little elegance, I added this beautiful stemware for wine and water. A beautiful glass ice bucket that can be used year round to keep your wine and champagne chilled. A crystal vase to hold fresh cut flowers to finish off the look.

There is always a charcuterie board involved every-time I host and this marble cutting board is a great size for outdoor use. I especially like the leather detail on it. Add one of these bowls to the board for olives or peppered jelly and don't forget the knife set.

As far as outdoor entertaining, Allmodern has everything you need to bring style, fun and functionality to all your open-air events. If you are local you can shop the AllModern store IRL at Market Street in Lynnfiled, Ma!

Updating a MidCentury Bedroom

One of the many aspects that I enjoy as part of my job is the ability to work with clients who all have different design aesthetics. It allows me to venture into different design styles that I appreciate and can have fun with and one of those is midcentury design. I love the simplicity of it but yet the unexpected elements that can be added to the space to make it just simply put.....cool! There is so much drama that can be made in a space without a lot of stuff. Unique wallpaper, textured walls, organic lines are just a few things that can make midcentury design beautiful. I worked with AllModern to put together a midcentury room update and pulled together inspiration photos similar to the moody bedroom we are working with. You can also shop these links below to purchase any of these items.

A CASUAL DINING SETTING FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH ALL MODERN

This post was sponsored by AllModern, and may contain affiliate links. As always, all opinions are my own

As we are all knee deep prepping our homes for the holidays, we tend to want to refresh everything in our homes. With holiday gatherings being small and intimate this year, things look a little different but that doesn't mean we can't give our spaces a little love even if they won't see a lot of people this year. I wanted to create a fresh new look for this family gathering space which is the heart of the home. The perfect space to create gingerbread houses and decorate Christmas cookies with the kids and to gather in our pj's on Christmas morning for some mimosas and brunch.

As a modern farmhouse spindle chair. These spindle chairs are not only kid friendly, but they're comfortable too. I love how the black pops against the gray floors and creates a statement for the space. Paired with a sleek tulip style table, it's a great mix of modern with a little twist of that modern farmhouse that everyone loves. The chairs visually keep the space open with the spindle backs and don't overwhelm the space.  A large globe pendant light works well above the space and we topped the table with large ceramic vases filled with seasonal greens which make it look festive.

BEDSIDE BEDROOM REFRESH WITH ALL MODERN

This post is sponsored by AllModern, but all text, images, and opinions are all my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep The Style Nest running!

I'm excited to share with you our little bedside refresh in our master bedroom. It was so much fun working with AllModern on this space. Small changes can go a long way! Our bedroom is very limited on space. So when choosing a bedside table and new lighting, I wanted to make the most out of the space. I had 2 requirements for our little bedside heros, one was drawers in the bedside tables for all the things you want to keep hidden away like chargers and eye masks and two were wall sconces so that we could maximize the space on top of the tables for water and whatever book or pile of magazines we may be reading.

I chose these dimmable swing arm sconces because I love the modern element they bring to the space. My husband and I also have different bedtimes and I like to read at night to help me fall asleep and he can't sleep when my light is on. The dimming feature will come in handy on these. These are hardwired but if that is not an option for you, you can create a similar look with a plug in as well and AllModern has many great options, like these which I also love

Since we are limited on space, I wanted our bedside table to have drawers for us to hide all those things you don't want to be seen like chargers, medicine, etc. I love the larger handles on these, they make the smaller table more of a statement piece and the brass detail ties in the brass in the sconce. I also love the detail in the front of these. They come in different colors as well. I chose the walnut because I wanted to bring in a warmer tone but the black is also a great color option. All Modern has so many more options to choose from.

Nightstands and lighting can make or break a bedroom. This is an area you can bring in some fun elements or textures, different wood tones to warm up the space or a cool light fixture to elevate the space. Having matchy matchy sets in a bedroom make it feel like you walked in the showroom and said "I'll take that set". I like mixing and matching pieces to make it feel more unique. Pairing wood bedside tables with painted dressers or metal bedside tables with wood dressers is a great way to create a unique bedroom retreat and don't forget the ambient lighting

I hope you enjoyed seeing our little bedside makeover and I can't wait to share this whole space with you when it's complete.

INSPIRATION FOR A BEDROOM BEDSIDE UPDATE

We have always put our master bedroom last on the list of items to be finished in our home. It's a very common theme I see among clients. Our bedroom is the place we retreat at the end of the day, it's a place we need to be able to relax and unwind from the daily stress, yet it's the place in the home that gets the least amount of love. With the kids virtual school beginning soon and the stress that entails for me, this is the perfect time to give our master a little refresh. Our current situation is really sad, actually quite embarrassing considering this is my job. We have yard sale furniture that was painted by Rob and nightstands that were painted by me. Our headboard was purchased as a last minute option to complete our old bedroom when we were staging our home, so it wasn't planned in any design and is too short for our tall mattress. You can't even see it once the pillows are fluffed on the bed. So it's time for a change, especially since one of the boys will now be using our bedroom as his virtual classroom.

Our master bedroom isn't huge by any means, it used to be the depth of our house but when we moved in but we divided it in half and turned the other half into a 4th bedroom/walk in closet. There are lots of windows, weird radiator placement and doors, you know, the usual New England colonial obstacles we have to navigate. We're limited to what wall we can place the bed on which limits us on the size nightstands that we can have in the space because our door opens into the nightstands. Although we need smaller scale pieces, that doesn't mean I have to skip out on less storage or style. I just have to get a little more creative with my design. Adding wall sconces to leave more nightstand space, adding nightstands with drawers and bringing in different textures to the space to make up for the smaller scale items will help give it a finished look.

Here are a couple bedside inspiration options I have been eyeing and I would love to hear your thoughts.

I love this simple upholstered bed and the wood tones of this nightstand to warm up the space. The patterned wallpaper fills the space that would otherwise make the sconce look out of place if it didn't have the statement wallpaper to hold it up.

I've had a wood wallpaper saved for our master for a long time, it just brings in a fun textured element to the space and warms up the room. Paired with a black contrasting nightstand, a fun modern wall sconce and a light upholstered bed. I'm all about light upholstered beds right now.

Can we say dream bedroom? All of my favorite colors all in one space. I love all the different textured elements used in this bedroom as well. This has been saved as a favorite master bedroom for years. Notice the textured rope sconce hanging from the wall? This is a great use of space and designed well because this isn't a huge master bedroom but there are big statement pieces in this room.
