Happy Friday! My Week and a Project Sneak Peek

After 3 snow days, a sick kid and a traveling hubby who got stuck out of town I'm glad to be rolling into this weekend.

The week wasn't all bad though. First we started off with a great ski weekend with lots of powder. I don't get to say that much and it was amazing! It makes it better when it snows the whole time. Second, our photo shoot that was snowed out last week also got moved to this week. I can't wait to see how it turned out. A special thanks to Jourieh from Jourieh Alicia Photography for capturing this project. This was a project in the Boston area that I've been dying to share with you. This client has similar tastes to my own, so decorating this space was a lot of fun. She also happens to be one of the first friends I met when we moved here. I still remember meeting her at the park with our babies who are now 10 years old! Time goes WAY too fast.

I can't wait to share the professional images but in the meantime here's a couple iPhone pics.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Jake just didn't want to stop skiing! This trail was absolutely stunning. The pictures don't do it justice.

FEATURED DESIGNER CRUSH

I could spend hours, actually I take that back...days perusing talented designers portfolios. Filling my head with ideas for my own home and my clients homes. But this weeks perusing led me to Chenault James Interiors. A southern girl who manages to mix traditional classic design and modern touches to create timeless interiors. I'm very much a neutral girl who loves to add color with accessories so you can imagine how much I love these spaces. Traditional Home named her a "New Trad" designer of 2015 and there's a good reason. Her work is amazing. She is also the co-owner of Pappy & Co which is a line of bourbon inspired items including barware, clothing, hot sauce and even furniture.

The ceiling, windows, animal print chair covered on cassaro fabric...completely obsessing over all of it. I love how she kept the window treatments off of these windows to showcase how beautiful they are.

This reminds me of some of the victorian homes here in New England with their beautiful woodwork and little details like the arch above the doorway. This paint color is beautiful as well and the pop of color in this beautiful abstract print.

This kitchen is so simple yet so stunning. The zinc hood and marble blend perfectly. I'd personally do a different light fixture above the island because I like a little more modern but this fits the space well.

So many of my favorites all in one room. This Kelly Whearstler fabric is so fun and I love seeing it mixed in traditional spaces. Paired with this Phillip Jeffries nailed it grasscloth and the painted trim I just love it all. I love the feminine pastel velvet couch used with a more masculine wallpaper too.  Bold art by Sally Benedict placed above the fireplace. This is a great example of traditional and modern done well.

Black iron doors make anything look amazing! I really really need these in my life one day. Can we also talk about this table base by Beau Studios??

I love the function of this space. How we all could use a pretty room for the messy stuff. Although after I found my son with red food coloring I may be rethinking the need for a pretty, messy room. We have these barstools and I love them.

I love that she painted the trim the same color of the cabinets in this office space. A glass waterfall table keeps the space open and lets the rug and window treatments remain the center of attention. And that Worlds Away shell light fixture is like the jewelry piece to finish the look.

This Galbraith & Paul Lotus print on this pillow may hands down may be my favorite prints and I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my master bedroom, whether it be in fabric or wallpaper, I'm not sure but I need it.  My issue has been I can't decide which color way I like the best. This is the picture that let me to Chenault's work.

How awesome is this map wallcovering? Paired with a hairpin leg desk and fun chair this is a room that can easily grow with kids.

This may be my favorite. I'm sort of partial to this wallpaper and love when it's used in childrens spaces. Chenault paired with these beautiful blue upholstered headboards and natural pendants to bring in warmth to the space. This space shows how Chenault adds color with accessories. You can easily switch out the beds in this space and create a completely different look. Although she did an amazing job with this space and I'm really digging this blue color right now.

Superbowl Party Ideas

The biggest game of the year is on this weekend (Go Pats!) and I will be making some of my favorite football foods.

My husband and I met during our college years and have a lot of time under our belts tailgating at Penn State games. We continued the tradition with our boys. Our 6 month old at the time had his own season ticket, my husband made tailgate blueprints and we had a squad of about 10+ families that joined us every weekend. So I have a couple tried and true favorites to share with you. They may not be the healthiest but it's the Super Bowl and we can't all follow Tom Brady's diet.
Cheesy Football Dip

(I've also used real bacon pieces on the outside instead of the nuts)

Deviled eggs

because who doesn't love deviled eggs

These are always a hit at a party and to be honest they're good no matter where you get them but I like the Trader Joe's ones. These homemade ones are also good.

My hubs wings

My husband is a good cook and can make some pretty amazing wings. He's done a lot of trial and error to perfect his wings but here's his favorite recipe. Be warned. This is his description. He doesn't follow recipes or time things so you just have to wing it...like that one?

http://www.thestylenestblog.com/2017/02/superbowl.html

Bake at 400 degrees I think
Right on the sheet pan and leave alone
They will get crispy and I don't time anything so when they're done
Toss with your favorite sauce.

Buffalo sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (3 sticks Butter, softened)
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons Tabasco sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 3/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
Ranch sauce

2 tsp melted butter
1 tsp dry ranch dressing mix
1 tsp minced garlic

One of the easiest main dishes to have at a party. Keep it warm in the crockpot and you're good to go. You could even add it to a build your own nachos station if you want to get all fancy. I have a couple favorite recipes but this is always the one I go to first.

Rolo Pretzel Bites

These are DANGEROUS!!

This is so easy to make ahead of time. Hardest part is not eating it all before the game. How cute is this football version
