A couple months ago while enjoying lunch at the Burlington Mall in Massachusetts, I noticed a sign  “Joss & Main Coming Soon!” You can imagine my excitement when I saw this. As I was browsing their Fall 2022 catalog a couple weeks ago which you can view here, I dog eared the Lilo chair because it’s so unique with its beautiful curved arms and woven finish. I knew with the dark walls in our family room that it would be a beautiful addition to our space, especially for the Fall. This is one of those pieces that you would want to see in person. Some may say it doesn’t look that comfortable but for a chunky woven chair, it is. There is a little give with the curved style of the chair and the seat is nice and wide. 

I added these leather storage bins that are the perfect addition to store throw blankets which will be needed as the cooler days approach. They come in a set of two and the larger size would be great for storing firewood next to a fireplace. The smaller one is shown above with the throw blankets. 

I have a slight obsession with fun organic looking vases and planters and these beautiful nubby cement ones come in a set of 2! 

And lastly for our little fall update to our family room, I added a new statement mirror. This room doesn’t get a lot of light so adding a mirror to a space can help reflect the light that does come in the room. This mirror not only looks beautiful but the quality is amazing. I will definitely be adding this to my sourcing list for clients.

Allmodern makes it easy to shop online and what I love the most is that everything arrives so quickly. If you're local to the Boston area you can now shop their FIRST retail store in person at The Market. They make it easy to stop in and grab all the entertaining needs in person. I had the opportunity to see the store in person and connect with new and old friends and it was such a great experience. The store is incredible beautiful and they make your shopping experience simple!

These melamine plates and serving ware caught my eye immediately because they look like real pottery but they're shatter resistant.  Great for entertaining outdoors! The large serving bowl is great for salads, watermelon slices, bags of chips or s'mores ingredients. It comes in 2 color options and additional serving pieces to coordinate. The neutral hues can coordinate with all your outdoor table setting ideas. I paired it with these stone salad servers and coordinating flatware settings in matte gold. I'm all for fun themed paper goods but there's something about real linens that take the outdoor entertaining to another level. I added these beautiful linen napkins that come in a variety of colors.I selected the cream color. 

To add a little elegance, I added this beautiful stemware for wine and water. A beautiful glass ice bucket that can be used year round to keep your wine and champagne chilled. A crystal vase to hold fresh cut flowers to finish off the look. 

There is always a charcuterie board involved every-time I host and this marble cutting board is a great size for outdoor use. I especially like the leather detail on it. Add one of these bowls to the board for olives or peppered jelly and don't forget the knife set.

With the change of seasons comes a new desire to update our home to make it work better for the season of life that we are in and thankfully that is back to school! Anyone else extremely grateful for this? 

With running in and out of the house more frequently, we needed a place to be able to place our bags and take off our shoes. Our foyer is very traditional with the beautiful round banister and crown moulding and although I love these older traditional features of our home, I was feeling like our foyer need a little bit of a refresh. 

So when All Modern selected us to participate in their Make a Grand Entrance campaign, I jumped at the opportunity. I knew exactly what I wanted to upgrade! 

AllModern has a lot of great options for your entry. They make it easy to shop too! I was able to save all the items I was looking at for our foyer in a folder and narrow down my design from those options. The first item I was on the hunt for was a bench that would fit in our narrow alcove below the stairs. I wanted something upholstered and a little more modern. This Oslo bench was the perfect fit. Simple, yet comfortable and also in stock! Can we get a hallelujah for that!!!  I liked that the more modern legs brought in that little modern update I was going for and the neutral fabric would allow me to change out the decor with the seasons. 

Increasing the cozy factor for the season is this simple throw blanket. We can easily grab this as we head out the door to sit by the fire on those cool fall evenings. I also love that it's called the Bodine Blanket because my cat, Bode has already claimed her spot on it. I should start calling her Bodine since she is a girl cat with a boy name. That's a story for another day. 

Foyers are one of the hardest used areas in the home so a durable rug that can easily hide the dirt is a MUST in the space. I'm always a huge fan of the price and looks of a jute rug and at under $50 for this one, I don't feel guilty having to replace it when this one has done it's time. Paired with our dark floors it brings in some warmth to the space. 

The last final touch to our entryway update was a new piece of art. I like adding art to unexpected places like the smaller empty walls in the entry. The wall felt a little bare next to the bench. I eventually want to add another piece to this but I like to start with a starting point and build upon it, maybe one of the postcards I've collected from our travels. I also wanted to tie in the black with the metal legs from the bench. 

I love how I was able to update this entry of ours and make a more usable space for our family and can't wait to sit down and kick off my shoes at the end of a long day but to be honest I'm most excited about having a place to keep my purse. Maybe I can accomplish more things with all the time I will be saving not looking for it.

We recently refreshed a favorite MidCentury bedroom project of ours. A style popularized in the 1940s and 60s, the Mid-Century Modern design movement was born out of the romantic idea that “good design could change lives.” It was a style that was all about functionality, accessibility, and modern simplicity. It's a look that is great for smaller more modern aesthetic spaces. It's a clean simple style that incorporates different textures paired with more modern unexpected elements.

One of the many aspects that I enjoy as part of my job is the ability to work with clients who all have different design aesthetics. It allows me to venture into different design styles that I appreciate and can have fun with and one of those is midcentury design. I love the simplicity of it but yet the unexpected elements that can be added to the space to make it just simply put.....cool! There is so much drama that can be made in a space without a lot of stuff. Unique wallpaper, textured walls, organic lines are just a few things that can make midcentury design beautiful. I'm excited to share with you our little bedside refresh in our master bedroom. It was so much fun working with AllModern on this space. Small changes can go a long way! Our bedroom is very limited on space. So when choosing a bedside table and new lighting, I wanted to make the most out of the space. I had 2 requirements for our little bedside heros, one was drawers in the bedside tables for all the things you want to keep hidden away like chargers and eye masks and two were wall sconces so that we could maximize the space on top of the tables for water and whatever book or pile of magazines we may be reading. 

 I chose these dimmable swing arm sconces because I love the modern element they bring to the space. My husband and I also have different bedtimes and I like to read at night to help me fall asleep and he can't sleep when my light is on. The dimming feature will come in handy on these. These are hardwired but if that is not an option for you, you can create a similar look with a plug in as well and AllModern has many great options, like these which I also love. 

Since we are limited on space, I wanted our bedside table to have drawers for us to hide all those things you don't want to be seen like chargers, medicine, etc. I love the larger handles on these, they make the smaller table more of a statement piece and the brass detail ties in the brass in the sconce. I also love the detail in the front of these. They come in different colors as well. I chose the walnut because I wanted to bring in a warmer tone but the black is also a great color option. All Modern has so many more options to choose from. 

Nightstands and lighting can make or break a bedroom. This is an area you can bring in some fun elements or textures, different wood tones to warm up the space or a cool light fixture to elevate the space. Having matchy matchy sets in a bedroom make it feel like you walked in the showroom and said "I'll take that set". I like mixing and matching pieces to make it feel more unique. Pairing wood bedside tables with painted dressers or metal bedside tables with wood dressers is a great way to create a unique bedroom retreat and don't forget the ambient lighting.
