Planning a Bridal Shower

Planning a bridal shower these days can be quite overwhelming with all the Pinterest, Instagram and Blog pictures bombarding all your news feeds. I can't imagine planning a wedding. I was overwhelmed when I only had the choice of The Knot, The Wedding Channel or Brides Magazine. But with all the creativeness out there it can also make it really fun!

I recently had the honor of being a bridesmaid in my sister in law's wedding. I don't have a sister so my sister in law is like the little sister I never had. The little sister I like to drive nuts with my 45 texts a day of different wedding inspiration photos. I may have been more overwhelming then pinterest for her, sorry K. But when it came to the bridal shower it was all in the bridesmaids hands. We had such a fun time planning this event for her special day.

Simple way to make water bottles look somewhat pretty

Mimosa Bar was a big hit. It's also fun to have a signature cocktail at a bridal shower, maybe the bride's favorite drink. Pom Pom stir sticks will be in upcoming blog post this week.

Date idea cards from TinyPrints for the Bride & Groom to Be

Beautiful cake from a local bakery adorned with fresh flowers to match the centerpieces

Favors for the guests included a pouf from Stella & Dot finished off with a personalized thank you and the proceeds were donated to my sil's favorite charities

An instagram sign with a # for the couple so that all the pictures are in one spot for them to look at after the event

Instead of your traditional guest book a thumbprint tree for guests to sign their name

Black & White striped fabric was made into runners and the couple's initial was painted in gold. This gives the shower a personal touch.

Adorable personalized napkins from Wedding Paper Divas with the couples initals

Guess how many m&ms game with cute little envelopes to write your answer. Little details always make everything look cuter!

Centerpieces we made up with shades of pink flowers and added black and white ribbon detail to coordinate with our black/white/gold theme

Here are some of my tips for planning a bridal shower:

-pick a theme if you'd like but you don't need to go overboard with it
-your invitation sets the stage for the formality of the bridal shower (there are so many options available for so many budgets)
-decide on a location and plan the theme/decor around that
-etsy is a great resource for printables to make your event personal
-include things that are special to the bride to be and make new traditions
-opening gifts can be long but also the best part. Play a game while the gifts are being opened to keep everyone interested.

Have fun!

  1. Really awesome bridal shower!! The theme is great. It reminded me of my cousin’s bridal shower at one of popular venues. After attending that did corporate event planning for my office staff. There were some similar things present. It was all done by a planner. Really had a great time there.
